ABOUT THE HOUSEWALK
This year is the 18th annual Saginaw Bay Symphony Orchestra Holiday Housewalk. It is one of the premier fundraising events in the Great Lakes Bay Region providing funds for the activities of the SBSO. The Housewalk helps to secure financial stability and promote community awareness of the Saginaw Bay Symphony Orchestra by showcasing homes and lifestyles of Saginaw and Bay County residents.
This year we have 5 beautiful homes to showcase, three in Freeland, one in Saginaw and one in Bay City. The Housewalk will begin at 10:30 AM and run through 7:00 PM on Thursday, December 6, 2018.
Ticket prices are once again $20 in advance, $22 the day of the event
The Saginaw Bay Symphony Orchestra
In 1935 the Saginaw Department of Parks and Recreation, working with conductor William Boos, formed an Orchestra Committee that resulted in the creation of the Saginaw Civic Symphony. The Symphony performed an annual concert series beginning with its first concert on October 29, 1935. The Symphony incorporated as a separate non-profit corporation in 1953, officially becoming known as the Saginaw Symphony Association (SSA). At this same time, the Symphony became a charter member of the League of American Orchestras, of which it is still a member today.
The SBSO is a professional, regional orchestra that performs each season in the beautifully restored Temple Theatre in downtown Saginaw. The Orchestra has a core group of 75 musicians that perform with the ensemble each season that runs from October thru May of each year.
The Saginaw Symphony Association is doing business as the Saginaw Bay Symphony Orchestra (SBSO). The mission statement of the Association is: "To advance the appreciation of orchestral music to our diverse audiences through high quality performances and innovative educational programs."
